Yoga is perhaps one of the best form of fitness and practice for health and wellness. The origins of yoga started with Pre-Vedic India, where it was initally one of the “eight limbed path” steps towards obtaining Samadhi or enlightenment. Patanjali is considered the father of yoga and his yoga teachings influences most modern styles of yoga. The students that practice yoga are known as yogis.
There are various schools and teachings of yoga, including Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, all emphasizing the many different aspects of the practice. Many studies have determined the benefits of yoga in helping alleviate cancer, schizophrenia, asthma, and heart disease.
If you enjoy yoga or are looking to join a fun class with your friends or considering adding this practice into your daily routine, consider trying out Corepower Yoga. This is not your typical yoga class. There are 4 different types of classes: CorePower 1 (C1), CorePower 2 (C2), Yoga Sculpt (YS), and Hot Power Fusion (HPF).
The classes are catered towards beginners all the way to advanced yogis. If you do not bring your own mat, rentals are $2. If you do not bring your own towel, rentals are $1. Lockers are provided. The studio is very clean and spacious. The locker room area even has several showers and a waiting area if you arrived early.
As far as the classes goes, the C1 classes is best for those that are starting with their yoga experience. Classes are instructed at a slower pace, room temperature kept at 75 degrees, and moves are mainly focused on breathing techniques. For C2, the classes has harder moves. It has a bit of a faster pace and with the added core workout section that kicks things up a notch. However it is still doable for beginners/ sedentary folks. The Yoga Sculpt (YS) classes are really unique, different from your typical yoga class. It is an intense workout with upbeat music. There will be combination of weights, basic yoga moves (downward dog, warrior, etc) and some cardio (jumping jacks, running in place, etc) included into your workout.

If you get overwhelmed from the heat in any of the classes, instructors encourage you to either take a break in a childs pose on your mat or step outside the room for some air. Every instructor has a different style of teaching but the flow is the same.
